Green Pool Recovery

A managed recovery process to treat the algae, clear the water and bring your pool back under control.

Green pool recovery: from $199 including GSTPlus chemicals required.

Most standard recoveries involve up to three scheduled visits. Additional work may be quoted separately.

MORE THAN A SINGLE TREATMENT

Green pool recovery is a process

A green pool usually cannot be properly recovered in one visit. The algae first needs to be treated, then the dead algae and debris need to be removed before the water can be rebalanced and stabilised.

Cassaro manages this process across a series of scheduled visits, monitoring how the pool responds and adjusting the treatment as it clears.

THE RECOVERY PROCESS

A recovery plan built around three stages

Every green pool responds differently, but a typical recovery is managed across three visits. We schedule each return according to the treatment used, the condition of the water and how the pool responds.

01

Visit 1 — Assess and begin treatment

  • Record and assess the pool’s starting condition
  • Complete comprehensive water testing
  • Check circulation and filtration
  • Remove accessible debris and brush affected surfaces
  • Clean or backwash the filter as appropriate
  • Begin the required chemical treatment
  • Provide instructions for filtration between visits

This is generally the most chemically intensive stage of the recovery.

02

Visit 2 — Remove and reassess

  • Reassess the algae response and water clarity
  • Retest the water
  • Remove dead algae and settled material
  • Brush or vacuum affected areas as appropriate
  • Empty baskets and clean or backwash the filter
  • Continue or adjust the treatment

This visit will often occur approximately 24–48 hours after the initial treatment, depending on how the pool responds.

03

Visit 3 — Complete and stabilise

  • Complete further cleaning or vacuuming as required
  • Clean or backwash the filter again if needed
  • Retest and rebalance the water
  • Confirm sanitiser, circulation and filtration are stable
  • Record the completed recovery
  • Provide recommendations for ongoing care

Some pools require additional treatment or visits before they are clear, balanced and ready to return to normal care.

The work completed at each visit may vary according to the pool’s condition and treatment response. Light cases may require fewer visits, while severe cases may require additional treatment, cleaning or equipment work.

EVERY GREEN POOL IS DIFFERENT

What affects the work involved?

Pool condition and size

The severity of the algae, pool volume, water colour and how long the pool has been green affect the chemicals, filtration and cleaning required.

Leaves and debris

Heavy organic material or settled debris can substantially increase the cleaning and vacuuming involved.

Water chemistry

Existing chemical levels and previous treatments affect the most appropriate recovery approach.

Circulation and equipment

The pump and filter must operate effectively. Faulty or undersized equipment can delay recovery and may require separate attention.

Photos and background information help us understand the likely scope, but the complete recovery requirement may only become clear after the pool has been tested and treatment has begun.

RECOVERY PRICING

What your recovery may cost

GREEN POOL RECOVERY

From $199 including GST

Plus chemicals required

Includes labour for up to three scheduled recovery visits for a standard residential pool.

The starting price covers the labour involved in a standard residential green pool recovery. Chemicals are charged separately according to the pool’s volume, condition and treatment requirements.

The final cost may be affected by excessive leaves or debris, heavy algae growth, inaccessible areas, additional vacuuming, poor water level, non-operational equipment or the need for more than three visits.

Where we identify work outside the standard recovery scope, we’ll explain what is required and seek approval before completing additional chargeable work.

Can you confirm the cost before starting?

Photos of the pool and equipment can help us assess the likely recovery requirements before attending. In some cases, the pool must be inspected and tested before the complete scope can be confirmed.

BEFORE RECOVERY CAN BEGIN

The pool equipment needs to support the process

Successful recovery depends on the pool being able to circulate and filter the water. The pump and filtration system must be operational, the pool must contain sufficient water and Cassaro must have safe access to the pool and equipment.

If equipment faults prevent the recovery from proceeding, we’ll explain the problem and provide a separate repair or replacement recommendation where appropriate.

The pool may also need to run for extended periods between visits. We’ll explain any operating instructions or access requirements during the recovery.

Green pool recovery questions

Can a green pool be fixed in one visit?

Usually not. Treatment needs time to work, and dead algae or settled material generally needs to be removed after the initial visit. Most standard recoveries involve up to three scheduled visits.

How long will the recovery take?

This depends on the severity of the algae, the amount of debris, the pool’s filtration system and how the water responds to treatment. We’ll explain the expected process after assessing the pool, but recovery time cannot be guaranteed in advance.

Are chemicals included in the starting price?

No. Chemicals are charged separately according to what the pool requires and the quantities used. These will be recorded in your service reports.

Is the pool safe to swim in during recovery?

No one should swim in the pool while treatment is underway. Wait until Cassaro has confirmed that the water condition and chemical levels are suitable for swimming.

What if the pump or filter is not working?

Effective circulation and filtration are essential to most green pool recoveries. If equipment faults are identified, repairs or replacement will be discussed and quoted separately.

Could the recovery require more than three visits?

Yes. Severely neglected pools, heavy debris, resistant algae, filtration problems or pools that respond slowly may require additional visits or labour. We’ll discuss this with you before proceeding with work outside the standard recovery scope.

Do I need to be home?

Not usually. We need safe access to the pool and equipment, unlocked gates or access instructions, pets secured and sufficient water in the pool. We’ll document the work completed during each visit.

What happens once the pool is clear?

We’ll recommend the most appropriate ongoing care based on the pool and its equipment. This may include regular pool servicing, a one-off service or Test & Balance visits.
